End of Term Message

Dear all,

We have come to the end of Term 1, 2019. It has been an exciting term full of activities:

Major Events In Term One:

1. Five children ably represented the School at the International Day of Children's Broadcasting. Thanks to Catherine Chipeta G7, Mambo Sithole G7, Emmanuel D. Chama G7, Innocentia Kahembi G7 and Charmaine G6.

2. Spelling competition at school - Congratulations to Deborah M'talimanja G3 and Bukata Lwiwa G5 for respectively winning the lower and upper primary in-school spelling competitions.

3. Interschool Spelling Competition - we participated in a spelling competition against St. Anne's and Mpezeni Park Schools and our School scooped the first position.

4. Grade 3 participated in a quiz competition against All Saints School and we beat them by 46 points to 24 points. Congratulations to Deborah M'talimanja, Jessie Mutumba, Lisa Chisanga, Jethro Mkandawire and Tapewa Tembo for ably representing the School.

2018 Grade 7 Examination Results: 29 candidates wrote the examination from our centre. 21 of them scored between 783 and 800 points; 7 obtained between 692 and 656. 1 candidate scored below 600. The candidate who scored below 600 left the school at the end of term one and only came back to write the Examinations. We are working hard to improve the performance as we aim at having children scoring above 800 points. However, in order to achieve this goal, we need parental support and involvement in children's work, particularly home work.

Exercise Books: We recommend that you buy RULED white paper exercise books. This helps children to develop good handwriting skills in their formative years.

Linkages: We have developed a partnership with De Montfort University in the UK. Details of the partnership will emerge later.

Functional French: In the month of May we shall be joined by the friends of Crownhill School from France, Monsieur Yvon and Madame Genevieve and they will teach functional french for the whole second term.

Punctuality: One of the virtues we want to implant in the minds of our children is that time is linear as opposed to being cyclic. Unfortunately, a few parents are undoing our efforts of teaching children to be time conscious by dropping them late for classes. The unintended message you are giving these future leaders is that it does not matter whether you arrive for a function, an appointment and indeed for work late. May we please improve on punctuality next term.

Payment of School Fees: You are all encouraged to deposit the fees in the School Account during the holidays. Only children whose fees will have been paid shall be allowed in class.

Grade 7 Examination ID Badges: All Grade 7 pupils are required to pay K50 at the start of term 2 for an examination Identity Badges.

OPENING TERM TWO 2019: We open on Wednesday 8th MAY 2019 and ends on Friday 2nd August 2019. If you are taking your children on transfer, kindly let us know during the holidays.

We wish all the children an enjoyable April break and look forward to welcoming them back to school on Wednesday 8th May 2019.
