Spelling Bee Competition

September 20, 2019

Today, we had a Spelling Bee Competition between Grade 2, Grade 3 and Grade 4. Each class had two representatives From Grade 2, we had Sarah Mukupa and Samuel Chilukutu, from Grade 3, we had Jethro M'kandawire and Jessie Mutumba and from Grade 4, we had Precious Ngulube and Happy Sichula.

A Spelling Competition is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with some degree of difficulty.

Spelling Competitions are helpful in promoting literacy by providing children with a positive goal to work toward, and gives them a forum to display the fruits of their hard work. But they also do much more, in addition to improving spelling, the spelling competition also helps children in learning concepts and developing study skills.

At Crownhill School, we believe that the benefits of spelling competitions go far beyond that of language. Since children are required to spell words out on stage, they develop self-confidence, communication as well as public speaking skills as well as the ability to work under pressure.

We commend the Pupils who took part in the Spelling Bee Competition. Well done to Sarah Mukupa for winning the Spelling Competition this time around.

Here are some of the pictures from the Spelling Competition!
